 Hi All!

There's bee na lot of talk and a lot of questions in the comments thread lately about the Stretch Goal Add Ons - what's an Add On and what isn't? What will their price points be?, and how can you claim them once they unlock & you decide you want them?

It took us a couple of days to compile all the info for you, but I think we now have everything you need. Here's a comprehensive table of all the Add Ons we've announced through $40,000:

The Stretch Goals that are AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED for every pledger are:

  • The Single Deck Magnetic Box (1 for each backer)
  • The Good & Evil Coin (1 for each current backer before that stretch goal is reached)
  • The Gold Foil Lettering & Detailing and the UV Spot Gloss

ALL Stretch Goals, both Automatic and the Add On, are included in the $99 Passport Tier. If you have this rewards tier, you get one copy of everything in the Kickstarter, INCLUDING RD:VOLUME 1. I know there's been some questions about that.

All the other Stretch Goals, including Add Ons, or multiple copies of both Add Ons or the Automatic items like the magnetic box & the coin can be ADDED TO YOUR PLEDGE IN TWO WAYS. Both are through our fulfillment service, Backerkit.  With the pricing table you see above, you now know the costs of each item. You can adjust your pledge at any point to include the prices of the stretch goals you know you want. Then, in the final email survey Backerkit sends you, you can specify which Add Ons these additional funds are for. Here is a link on how to adjust/increase your pledge.

Or, you can wait until this final email survey, and choose your Add Ons at the end of the campaign. All items will be available individually to add to your final pledge should you want them, or want multiples of them. We may be offering a bundle of all the Expansion Packs that open up for a slightly reduced price, but that will be determined by hoe many Expansions we unlock.

Also, I hope you'll all note that I was able to find a way to reduce the original price of the Expansions from $9 to $7. This was possible by going with an alternative  packaging instead of the more traditional foil package. This new price is definitely, definitely comparable with other major game producer's booster packs, which average around $4.50-$4.75 for 10 card packs (ours have 20 cards).

I hope this answers all of the questions that have been swirling in the comments in the past few days. If you'd like to start staking out Add Ons now, have at it! You know have all the information you need. And if it turns out you still have questions, just ask in the comments, or message me.

Cheers,

Clark

PS - the DUNGEONCRAWLER Expansion is going to unlock seriously, like, any second now!

The Single Deck Magnetic Box is Unlocked!

WAITING by Richard Anderson
WAITING by Richard Anderson

Hi all!

Apologies for not getting this out immediately, but I can honestly say that things are moving so fast with this campaign that it's hard for me to keep up with the news and announcements (which I guess is a good thing for all of us!). This past Sunday, we unlocked a Stretch Goal that applies to every deck-purchasing backer, and seriously increases the value of all of your pledges. The first of the two magnetic boxes has unlocked - and everybody who's backed a tier with even a single deck in it gets one.

What's the Story?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we found our way to the boxes very late in our campaign prep. We'd been searching for a box we really liked for the better part of a year, and we consistently struck out. Everything we were seeing looked too heavy, clunky, and frankly outdated. And expensive as hell to make and to ship. But, then along came ELDER DICE. Elder Dice is a Kickstarter that launched just before we did, and just finished yesterday, to great success. In it, project creators David La Rocca and Heath Robinson did a terrific job of creating and showcasing this awesome hardboard box, with a printed outside and a sweet magnetic closure for the dice offered in their campaign. The internet promptly swooned. I saw that and said, "THAT'S the box we've been looking for!"

As a backer of David's campaign and also his friend on Facebook, I reached out to him to talk to him about the magnetic box and its suitability for our project. He gave me an enthusiastic thumbs up to go ahead and work them in to our campaign (I'm not fond of the idea of other artists feeling like I might have ripped them off), and they were added to our Stretch Goals. We promptly blew past it, unlocking the box for everybody.

The Details:

Since then, people have been asking for some specifics, & now I have some. Each box is 2.5"x3.5"x1" deep, and holds a full 72 card Reckless Deck. They are made of 2.5 mm hardboard, and have a gloss paper laminated wraparound cover. The closure is a magnetic strip that extends across the entirety of the inside of the front flap. Photos have been extremely hard to come by, and getting a blank dummy box to photograph has proved very prohibitively expensive (who knew!) But, I've done some looking around, and based on what I found, I've bee able to create some fairly accurate mock ups to better illustrate what you'll all be getting:

Again, these are digital mock ups, not photos of prototypes, and we are still finalizing the design (the biggest question being whether we want to put the new RD design images or RD artwork on the front cover). But these images I hope give a much clearer idea of how cool these boxes are for housing your Reckless Decks. I think they're also fabulous for gamers of any kind, for housing whatever cards, miniatures, or accessories they roll up to game night packing (notice I didn't say dice, because obviously you'll be carrying your dice in their Elder Dice Grimoire). Or, for people who are just fond of extremely cool boxes, for holding whatever curios or desk doodads they may have strewn around.

And now, each and every deck-buying backer gets one. (sorry, $1 pledgers).

And before you ask, yes, multiple copies will be available as Add Ons at the end of the campaign, so you'll have the chance to grab as many of them as you want. And, future Stretch Goals may involve printing variant covers, and artwork printed on the inside as well, so these boxes stand a chance of getting even cooler than they already are.

And before I'm even done talking about the last Stretch Goal, pledges continue to roll in, and the campaign is rocketing closer to unlocking the next Stretch Goal. I have a feeling you'll be hearing from me in the next 24 or so (maybe sooner), congratulating everyone on unlocking the STEAMPUNK EXPLORER Expansion Pack! One of my personal favorites - I'll tell you more about it next time...

The STEAMPUNK EXPLORER Expansion is Unlocked!
about 7 years ago – Sun, Apr 02, 2017 at 10:58:51 PM

Hi All,

I warned you yesterday you'd be hearing from me again today, and here we are! Thanks to some rock star backer activity last night, our second Expansion Pack, STEAMPUNK EXPLORER, is now unlocked! And, I said yesterday that this was one of my favorite of the Expansions, and here's why.

Confession time: I'm not a huge lover of Steampunk! I mean, I like it - I think the cosplay often looks amazing, and it's fun to draw and to look at. But I don't have rows and rows of Steampunk fiction lining my bookshelves, or a closet full of waistcoats and cog-encrusted top hats. So why am I so fond of this Expansion, you ask? Two reasons:  When using both RD Volume 1 and Volume 2, I find the Steampunk-oriented cards extremely useful in designing characters. They serve as these classy, sexy, adventurous-looking tentpoles of a character's overall look, and they work great as a grounded foundation for the more high-flying concept elements. And the Steampunk cards seem to make great connective tissue between some of the more incongruous genres, like Fantasy with Sci Fi.

When is Steampunk not Totally Steampunk?

Which brings me to reason two. I've mentioned before that this Expansion is more than people standing around posing with parasols and monocles. That's because all the cards in it are funneled through the lens of adventure and exploration - landing somewhere between Classic Adventure Lit and Pulp. It's loaded with danger, exploration, archaeology, exotic & extreme climates - and a generous helping of INDIANA JONES. Whether you're big on Steampunk or no, I think you'll all be as psyched about this expansion as I am.

Thanks for helping to make it happen!

Now, an important bit of money talk. I made mention of this in the comments, but I think it bears repeating in a more visible setting like this. To those backers who pledged the $99 PASSPORT TO ALL STRETCH GOALS tier, or are thinking of bumping up to it: with the unlocking of the STEAMPUNK Expansion, the retail value of all the items in the tier now EQUALS the price point of the reward level. Which means in just over 8 days, you got your money's worth! And it also means that all the other stretch goals we unlock in the next 20 days are all essentially a big, beautiful BONUS.

Now, on to an easy stretch goal that benefits every single card we'll print - GOLD FOIL LETTERING for all cards!
