Latest Updates from Our Project:

Is Everybody Happy? (With Your Rewards, At Least...)
over 3 years ago – Thu, Aug 27, 2020 at 10:00:49 AM

Hello, Creative Friends and Reckless Deck Backers!

It's been awhile since we've communicated on this platform! Most of you have migrated with us over to our newsletter, associated with our up-and-running eCommerce website. But I wanted to touch base with all of you as backers one more time, becasue in just 3 weeks, Reckless Deck is returning to Kickstarter with an all new project. Which I am happy to tell you all about. But BEFORE that, I want to triple-quadruple check in with you about our 2017 Kickstarter, and make sure everyone is all good.

I'll get right to it: there are over fifty (fifty!) backers who never completed their survey. Which, if you're one, means you never entered your mailing address, or paid for your shipping. Which means I have no way of sending you the rewards you've already paid for. Let me assure you - I want you to have your rewards. You came out and supported us, and were on the ground floor of helping Reckless Deck go on to some pretty exciting and incredible things. The items exist, and you paid for them. If you never finished the survey, and you still want your stuff, your pledge is still valid, and I'll be happy to fulfill it. Just follow this link to sign into Backerkit and reclaim your survey.

If you did complete your survey, and something is still amiss, PLEASE reach out to me at [email protected], and tell me. As we head towards an even bigger & more ambitious Kickstarter on September 15th, I hope to have each & every one of you happy with what you received, happy with the customer service experience you had, and ready to sign on for another go round. Trust me - I worked in the service industry for 15 years, and it will seriously bum me out if any of you feel ignored or left behind.

Coming up on September 15th - Reckless Deck: PSYCHE! An all new, 8 category creative prompt system for taking a deep dive into your character's MIND.

"The Head Can't Know What the Hand Has Done", Exclusive new Reckless Deck art by DAVE PALUMBO

This is the NUMBER ONE ASK from people at all the shows, conventions, and school appearances I've done in the past 2.5 years: "Do you have anything that helps figure out the INSIDE of your character? Like, what they're thinking and what they want, and why they do what they do?" PSYCHE combines the best techniques of professional actors and writers to bring you an all new system for exploring the landscape of your character's inner life. And, it comes in an interlocking, interchangeable system that suits any genre, any style, any time period.

In the coming days, you can look forward to product images, box art, and another big exclusive art reveal by one of the industry's leading illustrators. To make sure you're tuned in to all of that, you can subscribe to our regular mailing list here.

And SERIOUSLY, if your pledge rewards are anything less than what you ordered or expected, or if (heaven forbid) they never showed up at all, please contact me at [email protected] at your convenience.

Excited to see you all  again on Kickstarter on September 15th!

Regards,

Clark

End of Fulfillment Update

 Hey Everybody,

Some of you may have received your first direct email from me via the Reckless Deck site today (as opposed to a Kickstarter update like this one). Since the Kickstarter is for the most part complete, that is how you'll likely be hearing from me going forward. You are of course free to unsubscribe, but I hope you'll stick around. I try hard to include worthwhile content about upcoming shows, new art challenges, and character creating tutorials (more of those in the near future), and also to not spam you into the ground.

But, I thought if there were any remaining fulfillment concerns, we should talk about that here. Like I said, the Kickstarter is fulfilled - mostly. Here's what's left:

Minis. A handful of you who ordered multiple minis are still waiting on your second set. Just yesterday I picked up the installment of new minis we needed to complete all remaining orders. I will do my best to get those orders packed this weekend, and in the mail to you on Monday. Thanks for your patience with those, and I apologize for the long wait.

Missing International Orders. I had quite a few international orders sent back to me marked return to sender. I went though a lengthy period of trying to reach those backers, confirm the shipping address, and re-send them. However, there were several of you who never responded to this. International shipping is expensive, and I don't want to blindly chuck your package into the shipping Bermuda Triangle a second time. If you're an international backer and you never received your package, it probably means you either didn't get or didn't respond my attempts to confirm your address. If you're one of these people, please email me at [email protected].

Orders with Missing Items/Expansions Containing the Wrong Cards. To my knowledge, everyone who reported either a missing item, or an Expansion Pack that had the wrong cards in them has received a replacement. If you're one of these people and either a) decided to let it slide, or b) got in touch with me and never received a replacement, definitely email me at [email protected].

Backers who Never Completed the Survey. A surprising number of backers never completed the survey or entered their shipping address. I've tried numerous times to reach out to this group and remind them to go to https://reckless-deck.backerkit.com/ to complete the process. If you just never received anything at all (especially if you live in the US), it's likely you fall into this camp. Follow the link to recover your survey.

If there are any other fulfillment issues other than the ones I mentioned above, definitely let me know. I'm happy to help.

Other than that, I hope you're all enjoying your decks! And if you make something cool, I hope you'll post it to Instagram. Follow us, and tag your art with #recklessdeck so it can join the extensive & growing gallery of fabulous original characters & environments!

All the Best,

Clark

Our Minis Sculptor just launched a new Kickstarter!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, May 08, 2018 at 10:04:40 AM

 Hi All!

Here's a fun bit of news: Ryan Lesser, the 3D artist who did the sculpts for our minis, launched a Kickstarter today for a new tabletop game of his! Its called STREETS OF STEEL, and its based on old arcade-style, side scrolling punch-up games.

STREETS OF STEEL is a 1-4 player co-operative side-scroller, where players brawl their way through baddies in a 1980's-esque, pixelated, post-apocalyptic, degenerate cityscape. Fight filthy Punks, hot-headed Firebugs, and elusive Killgaroos (yup, ninja kangaroos) in order to take down the big boss, Super Mutie. Streets of Steel comes with BOTH plastic minis and pixel art standees so players can choose their way to play.

This is a fast paced and funny game with interesting new boardgame mechanics and lots of reverence for 16-bit, arcade fighting!

Ryan is a game designer professionally, and worked on both the GUITAR HERO and ROCK BAND video games. If you enjoy tabletop gaming, I highly recommend you check this out! Here's the link to the campaign page.

Final Reminder - LAST DAY for your 20% Off Promo Code
almost 6 years ago – Thu, May 03, 2018 at 08:28:44 PM

Hi All!

I just wanted everybody to have one last reminder that today is the last day of the 3 day extension on the RDHOLIDAY backers-only promo code. At 12am tonight EST, the code expires. If you wanted to take advantage of it and snap up whatever decks, expansions, or magnetic boxes you've had you're eye on, now is your moment.

And also, a fun bit of content for you as well! Kirbi Fagan, the artist for the super-popular BLIND CIRCUS illustration (from our Reckless Deck comission series, & featured on our 5 Deck Box) has some fun news: The BLIND CIRCUS art was licensed for the cover art of LUNA STATION QUARTERLY magazine! Here's a link to a cool article in which she talks about her process & career, and shows some of her other incredibly cool work. She was also very generous with offering up praise or Reckless Deck. Thanks Kirbi!

Backers-Only Promo Code Extended 3 More Days!

 Hi All!

Your 20% off promo code was set to expire at the end of the day today. But, since it's been so crazily popular, I've decided to extend it another 3 days, through Thursday, May 3rd, 12pm EST. If you were thinking of picking up an extra magnetic box, or a couple of the expansions you didn't pull the trigger on the first time, or an Apprentice Pack for that kid's birthday party you have coming up, now is your chance to take advantage (if you lost your card, the code is RDHOLIDAY.) And, a sincere thank you for those of you who have already come back around for seconds (or thirds...) - you guys have helped give us a rockin' first month out of the gate!

FULFILLMENT ISSUES. I'm doing my best to get on top of any and all issues you guys might be having. According to my records, I believe I'm totally current with any "my Expansion had the wrong cards in it" issues. If you haven't received either a) a replacement, or b) a Stamps.com email from me that your replacement is on its way, I invite you to contact me - potentially for not the first time. If yours was maybe an issue that got by me, sorry about that. I did my best to track everything, but I don't have a Support Center (which would be AWESOME, btw). If I missed your email alerting me to a jacked-up expansion, hit me up again, and I'll get your sorted out. If you're a "where's my motherf*** order?" backer, well, I'm working on you guys now. I have some emails to send responding to people who have recently let me know that their shipped order never arrived, and to a few of you whose orders have come back to us marked Return to Sender. We'll get everyone squared away ASAP.

FUN CHALLENGE! Things over at the Out of the Box forums at recklessdeck.com are starting to really take off. To that end, a backer has started up an awesome challenge that I enthusiastically encourage you all to check out! in THE PLOT THICKENS forum, there's a weekly writing thing that challenges you to spin something out of this inaugural combo:

I - Reanimated / Reassembled

M - Tattoos

W - Enchanted Food or Fruit

C - Mage or Monk's Robes

A - Radiation Monitor

I'm planning on trying to participate myself - I hope you'll consider piling on.

Hope you're all enjoying your decks! If you have issues, get in touch. If you have earth shattering busts of inspiration, add it to the forum!

Cheers,

Clark
